In collaboration with the health care council established by HJI, we plan to develop and conduct a comprehensive community healthcare and medical-legal needs assessment and evaluate local and state policy to develop a strategic action plan to advocate for better healthcare policies. During the pilot initiative, we will focus on assessing the needs and resources in Brooklyn to develop a local policy action plan.

After the pilot initiative, we hope to expand this assessment to include all five NYC boroughs in 3-5 years and New York state in 7-10 years.

Our efforts will create a strong advocacy movement for disinvested New Yorkers facing barriers to care, enabling them to access the quality physical, mental, and gender-affirming health care they deserve.
